smart_shopping_map_logoIt is always the same problem. You find yourself in a city you do not really know and are dying for some really good shopping. Problem is that the shopping that you are going to find on your own is likely to be a complete tourist trap. In Stockholm there is help for the lost shopper and it is called Smart City Shopping.

Anyone can find the big department stores in a new city but how do you find the small, cool and really unique shops at the same time as you get a quick sightseeing and all this in three hours? This and sense for personal service were the ideas that Charlotta Carlsen and Pia Stigell had when they started Smart City Shopping Stockholm in 2006.

Though it is getting better Stockholm is not really famous for its great customer service when you shop but with a personal guide that speaks your language the shopping become so much more pleasant not to talk about how efficient it gets (if that is what you are after). “It is really important that our staff loves to be service minded”, Charlotta explains.

Smart City Shopping works with around 60 shops in Stockholm. Some are the large well-known shops almost impossible not to stumble over but most are the smaller unique shops that will be tricky for a tourist to find. “We mainly have foreigners as customers and then we are more guides and helpers but we do have some Swedes as well and then we are more of personal shoppers”, Charlotta says.

Charlotta definitely thinks that Stockholm is a good city for shopping, not the least in international comparison. It has a good variety of shops and it is not totally dominated by the huge global labels but it is quite easy to find smaller Swedish and Scandinavian brands as well but what is the very best about the Stockholm shopping? “I love that it is walking distance between most of the shops”, says Charlotta.
